Education Minister Getahun Mekuriya (PhD) received the materials from Liu Yu, a consultant on economic and trade affairs at the Chinese Embassy. The support includes 500,000 masks and thermometers which worth 11 million birr.

The minister said the support will help to protect students from the COVID-19 virus by supporting the ongoing teaching and learning campaign.

He also thanked the Chinese government and the business community for their support in Ethiopia's efforts to prevent COVID-19.

Chinese Embassy Economic and Trade consultant Liu Yu said the Chinese government has been providing various support since the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in Ethiopia. The advisor added as the Chinese government will continue to strengthen his support.

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Ethiopia has been supporting the Ethiopian government to produce local medical equipment, including ambulances and breathing aids.
