Gender clubs essential in minimizing girls’ dropout
Ethiopia has valued education and paid utmost efforts in providing education for its citizens. Thus, millions of citizens are being enrolled in different education institutions.
Indeed, the country has registered remarkable success stories in the sector.
However, performance review of Education Sector Development Plan V (ESDPV) indicated that 8th grade girls’ performance means their examination result is not satisfying as it has been intended in the plan. To this effect, lately Ministry of Education (MoE) organized a field visit to media crew in some identified schools in Oromia State that registered 20 percent performance.
Importantly, as it was observed by the media crew, lack of inputs and well-trained teachers in some subject areas in addition to cultural and other traditional norms have lagged behind girls’ education performance in the visited schools.
