The Ministry of Education has warned private schools that view education as a trade.

Minister of Education, Getahun Mekuriya (Dr. Eng.) we have also encountered private schools that regard education as a commodity.

The minister said that as there are private schools that neglect the decision of free promotion made by ministry."We have seen that there are private schools that say you will not be transferred to the next class if you do not pay the tuition fee,"he said.

And also some schools were following a new payment system in addition to the previous payment system. Regarding this the minister warned that action would be taken untill to close down the schools on those act out of the decision made.

No fees or payment will be accepted without the consent of the student parents' union even if the school administrator decides said.

It has been said that private schools should see themselves as an institution that produces citizens and should worry about the quality of education rather than seeing the education as commodity.
