The Ministry of Education says it is considering conditions to re-open schools.

State Minister of ministry of Education Million Matiwos give a statement to the media on the current situation related to the re-opening of schools for the 2013 academic year.

Following the outbreak of COVID-19 in Ethiopia in March, more than 26 million students who follow their education in 42,000 schools were out of school.

The state minister said a study group has been set up to study the conditions to start the 2013 school year. According to the study, the capacity of schools to teach 20 to 25 students in a classroom has been assessed and identified said the state minister.

According to the state minister announcement, in order to maintain distance one student will be seat in a chair, the teaching process will be in shift, building additional classrooms, and using community service institutions for teaching are some of alternative that the ministry will take during reopening of school.

Having this in mind, some regions have already built additional classrooms, but it is doing on all regions to build more classrooms in schools.

It is also said that the ministry will work to provide water supply, hand sanitizer and mask in schools during reopening of school.

For the achievement of reopening school, State Minister Million Matiwos calls on parents and stakeholders to stand by the side of the government.
